Supporting South Devon's orchards
Books
Compact yet comprehensive; focusing on traditional manual methods you could try at home. Ideal if you're considering cider making for the first time and want something reasonably comprehensive. Also contains details on making your own press and even a little poetry - my favourite is "Moonlit Apples". Best of all are the little illustrations, a couple of which can be found on this site, courtesy of Special Interest Books.
Certainly not a step-by-step guide, but an enjoyable read about the cider making culture and tradition of England, particularly the South West. Lots of artwork and poetry along with great historical quotes and food for thought - did the French really invent the Champagne Method? |
